A table football challenge was held in Asda in Darlington on Monday.
The winner was Daniel Harris, aged 12, from Aycliffe who was presented with a football table and a £50 gift card and will go through to the regional finals. The runner-up was Daniel Martin, aged nine, from Darlington who won a limited edition football.
TROLLEY DASH: Tickets to win a trolley dash around Spennymoor's Asda supermarket are being sold by the town's Rotary Club this weekend, with the winner drawn on Monday. The dash is due to take place in the food section only at 7.45am, before the start of trading, on Saturday, May 17.
CHOIR CONCERT: Alston Men's Fellowship Choir is hosting a concert in the Methodist Chapel, Forest-in-Teesdale, tomorrow, at 7pm.
VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT: The Butterwick Hospice is holding an open morning for prospective volunteers at its shop in Skinnergate, Darlington, on Tuesday between 11am and 1pm.
FUNDRAISING SALE: St Paul's Church, Spennymoor, is holding a nearly new and rummage sale in the parish hall on Tuesday, from 7pm. Admission is 10p.
PLANT SALE: Darlington Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society is holding a plant sale at Netto in Haughton Road on Saturday, May 17.
WINE TASTING: A Marks and Spencer wine tasting session in aid of Sadberge Village Hall, near Darlington, will take place in the hall on Wednesday, at 7.30pm. Entry is £2.
SPRING FAIR: Cockfield Methodist Church is holding a spring fair on Saturday, May 17 from 10.30am. Admission is free.
HISTORY COURSE: A six-week course on how to research family history starts next Friday, from 9.30am to 11.30am at The Learning Shop, Newton Aycliffe. For details, call (01325) 311177.
COFFEE MORNING: Cakes, books and a raffle will be on offer at a coffee morning at Sadberge Village Hall, near Darlington, on Saturday, May 17, between 10am and noon.
COFFEE EVENING: The parish church of St James the Great, in Albert Hill, Darlington, is holding a coffee evening on Tuesday, at 7.15pm. Admission is £1.
BARBECUE NIGHT: Witton-le-Wear Women's Institute will hold a fundraising barbecue with line dancing at Wayside in the village at 7.30pm on July 4. Guests are asked to take their own food. Entry costs £2 and proceeds will go towards redecorating the chapel hall.
COMMUNION DATE: There will be Communion at Eastbourne Nursing Home, Darlington, today, at 11am.
