SHOPPERS in Darlington's Grange Road have been stepping back into the 1960s as part of a three-day street party.
The event has been running over the past two days and finishes today.
Traders in Grange Road organised the event to promote the street as an "exclusive" shopping destination.
They have decked out shop windows with 1960s-themed-decorations, including an old Vespa in one display.
Andy Atkins, chairman of the traders' association, Exclusively Grange Road, said: "We all agreed that a Sixties theme would be a good idea. Our oldest business on the street, Geoffrey Gillow menswear, started in the 1960s so I suppose it is appropriate.
"Some of the traders have been dressed up and there is a ten per cent discount available in the participating shops."
Today, a band will be playing songs from the 1960s, and an Alpha Radio roadshow will visit the street. Shoppers get a ten per cent discount in all participating shops while the event is on and they can also take part in a competition to win a £300 hamper of treats.
