PUPILS at a Stockton school enlisted the help of three sports stars yesterday in an attempt to raise funds for their sports college status bid.
Former Middlesbrough star Garry Pallister, current player Colin Cooper and athlete Allison Curbishley visited Blakeston School to offertheir support to the bid. They also met year 11 students who are due to take their GCSE PE exams.
Work at the school has already begun on the task of writing the bid, but the school still has to raise £50,000 for it to progress. So far, fundraising has brought in £5,000, but for their target to be achieved the school would like to enlist the help of local businesses which might be able to offer support.
If successful, the sports college status will help promote the ideals of fitness and health in the community of north Stockton and bring sport-linked resources and funding into the school.
Anyone who may be able to offer help is asked to contact John Hudson on (01642) 612381.
