PLANS to upgrade a park gardens in Hartlepool have taken a step forward.
Consultants Banks of the Wear has been appointed by the Burn Valley Gardens Rejuvenation Consortium to oversee a project to regenerate the area.
It will work closely with the consortium, which is made up of representatives of local community groups, to help put together a regeneration plan and carry out consultations.
A key element of the consultation process will be a public meeting at the Belle Vue Community Sports and Youth Centre, on Monday, at 5.30pm.
Anyone with an interest in the Burn Valley Gardens is invited to attend.
It is also intended to hold events in the gardens and to carry out a door-to-door survey to gauge the views of residents.
The consortium, which is being backed by Hartlepool's New Deal for Communities regeneration programme, has already applied successfully for a Doorstep Green grant.
The funding is National Lottery money that is distributed through the New Opportunities Fund and administered by the Countryside Agency.
The consortium hopes to secure further Doorstep Green funding to enable it to implement its future plans for the gardens
