A GROUP of teenagers is hoping to prove to pensioners in Darlington that young people really do care about them.
The youngsters have written to every old people's home in the town to invite residents to take part in monthly bingo sessions at Firthmoor Community Centre.
"We would like to organise this so you can socialise with each other and have fun," says the letter. We would also like to arrange it so the elderly people don't think all young teenagers cause mayhem on the streets of Darlington."
Natasha Grainger, Janie McKay, Lauren Coglan, April Wray and Jessica Goodwin, all 14, are organising the bingo sessions. Prizes will include a meal at Blackwell Grange Hotel, a Marks and Spencer hamper and a box of Thornton's chocolates.
Any elderly person interested in taking part is asked to call youth worker Robert Johnson on (01325) 260666.
