A SCHOOL has welcomed a new teacher from across the Atlantic.
Nicole Forshaw, from Vancouver, in Canada, will be working at Hurworth Comprehensive School for two months teaching history.
Ms Forshaw, 29, answered an advertisement for teachers to work in the UK.
After completing her first week, the Canadian visitor is impressed by what she has seen so far.
She said: "I decided to come for lots of reasons. I lived in England for a little while about ten years ago and really enjoyed it, so wanted to come back.
"I also thought it would be good experience, a good chance to travel and something a little bit different."
Ms Forshaw is hoping to find out a little more about Darlington, where she is staying, and the North-East.
She said: "The students here are great and Hurworth is very quaint, but I haven't really had chance to look around the area yet. The whole area seems beautiful from what I've seen so far."
