A pensioner died after developing bronchial pneumonia following a fall in a residential care home.
Retired postman Francis Broderick, 73, fractured his leg when he fell outside his room at Kirkdale Care Home, in Radcliffe Crescent, Thornaby, on January 16 last year. At an inquest in Middlesbrough, a verdict of accidental death was recorded.
LEISURE WALKS: A series of leisure walks is being held to ease the burden for carers in Stockton. The Local Leisure Walks for Carers run fortnightly, and the walks take in places such as Norton, Eaglescliffe and Thornaby. The project has been created to help carers learn more about local history and meet fellow carers. The walks are free to the registered carers at Stockton's Carers' Resource Centre in Bishopton Lane, Stockton. There is also a free bus from the centre to take people to the start of the walk.
SPONSORED TODDLE: The Butterwick Hospice is asking youngsters to take part in a sponsored toddle as part of Hospice Care Campaign month. The event will take place on Wednesday, June 25 at Preston Park, Eaglescliffe at 1.30pm. Every child taking part will receive a prize.
