David Allan, one of the most promising five pound claimers around at the moment on the Flat, could be the rider to follow at Redcar this afternoon.
Allan takes the ride aboard Tim Easterby's Raphael and the combination can click in the Tote Exacta Fillies Showcase Handicap over seven furlongs.
The daughter of Perugino has shaped well on her last couple of outings over this trip at Thirsk, where she would almost certainly have gone closer if she had been better drawn.
The draw is of much less importance on the straight track at Redcar and she is now back on the same mark as when just touched off by Shanook when also poorly drawn at Catterick on her reappearance.
This course should be much more to her liking and she's taken to get the better of Favour, who has only had three career starts and there is likely to be more to come, especially over this trip.
Allan can also be on the mark with Encounter, who could also appreciate the return to a straight track, in the Evening Gazette Handicap over a mile.
On his reappearance last month, the seven-year-old shaped well after meeting trouble to finish ahead of those that raced on the unfavoured far side at Newcastle over seven furlongs.
He was disappointing at Musselburgh last time but the return to this trip on fast ground could well be in his favour and he's taken to reverse recent placings with Apache Point.
With Eric Alston's horses in tremendous form Allan has a sporting chance of completing the three timer with Pilgrim Princess in the Voltigeur Restaurant Claimer over six furlongs.
Although the mare has plenty to find at the weights, she is a game sort who came to hand at this time last year and is well worth an each-way interest.
At Wolverhampton the best bet on the card could be Monsal Dale, who makes plenty of appeal in the betdirect.co.uk Handicap over a mile and seven furlongs.
Bernard Llewellyn's four-year-old is a consistent sort who stays this trip and will have no problems with the surface and, as the one confirmed front-runner, should get the run of the race.
James Given's horses are in tremendous form and his Branston Melody, who is bred to go on this surface, should take all the beating in the Bet Direct Maiden Auction Filles Stakes over five furlongs.
At Windsor's evening meeting Sir Michael Stoute's Right Approach looks an interesting runner on his reappearance in the Agfa Royal Windsor Listed race over a mile. The four-year-old didn't really fulfil his undoubted potential last year but he's well worth another chance to confirm his juvenile promise and it will be disappointing if he's not thereabouts.
