POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man brandishing a shotgun stole money from a club.
Two men, one with the gun, entered the ex-servicemen's club, in Queen's Avenue, Thornaby, Teesside, on Friday, at about 10.30pm and demanded money from a member of staff.
A police spokesman said: "Fortunately, the weapon was not used during the robbery and no one suffered physical injuries."
The following morning at about 11am, a vehicle was spotted in Egerton Street, Middlesbrough, and was stopped by the armed response unit in the town's Woodland Road.
A male and female were arrested. The female has been released without charge and the male has been charged in connection with the robbery and will appear before Teesside magistrates this morning.
At about 4am yesterday, an armed police operation took place in the Grove Hill area of Middlesbrough in connection with the robbery, and two males were arrested from the house and are being questioned by detectives.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Detective Sergeant Gareth White on (01642) 302233.
