Crook League: The deciding doubles took Howden Australian to victory over the visiting Crook Queen's Head B.
The Aussie had singles wins from John Allott, Ron Flounders and Stephen Heyes, whilst the Queen's levelled with wins from Dave Heslop, Stephen Gibson and Michael Storey. In the deciding doubles Liz Hall and Steve Hall took the home side to victory by beating Malcolm Gibson and Dave Heslop.
In the other match played Willington Brewer's Droop maintained their Second Division title challenge with a three points victory at Crook Jelly's Bar B.
Crook Belle Vue lead the First Division by three points from Crook Mill House, who are four points in front of the joint third placed Crook Royal Sun and Crook Coach and Horses A.
Willington League
The League Singles Championship qualifying stage was held at four venues with the winner from each going forward to the play-off for the title at the Victoria Club on Monday, 2 June.
At Willington Burn Hotel, Chris Burnham beat Phil Blyth in the decider; at Willington Black Horse Tavern, Les Welch beat Jason Martin in the decider; at Hunwick Joiners Arms, Dave Robson beat Trevor Bourne in the decider; and at Sunnybrow Brown Trout, Steve Robinson beat Sammy Jackson in the decider.
CIU Singles Championship
Semi-final draw: J. Morland (Old Shildon) v P. Neary (Horden Labour & Trades) and J.P. Dodsworth (Fishburn) v J. Bayles (Grange Villa). Results to be into the Branch Office by Saturday, May 24.
Demma Wright Memorial Singles
There were 50 entries at Byers Green Club for the Memorial to Demma Wright, who secretary of the CIU Games League for many years. In the semi-finals Keith Waters of Byers Green lost to Joe Miller of Chilton 5-3, whilst Billy Carfoot of Chilton beat Joe Wray of Ferryhill 5-2. In the all Chilton final, Joe Miller beat Billy Carfoot 5-3.
