The first ever three-day Festival on the prolific Woodland Lakes delighted sponsors Van Den Eynde when 90 of the country's top carp enthusiasts made for an instant sell-out.
Decided on section points with nine sections of ten the event was spread around the complex on Curlew Kestrel Partridge Skylark and Wagtail Lakes.
Local ace Mark Coyne from Thornaby gave an unbelievable performance winning his section every day. The magical three point total earned the Map Elton sponsored star over £2,000 plus VDE clothing and luggage.
Day one saw Ray Singh of Map Elton take top catch recording 55.10.0. It was all carp to 3.0.0 off Partridge 27 when a 13 metre approach and meat on the deck delivered.
Day two resulted in a win for Sensas Garbolino's Mark Vanderkamp off Partridge peg 2. Mark opted to fish 7 metres into the corner. Alternating paste and pellet 22 carp obliged for an impressive winning net of 68.15.0 Day Three: Partridge Lake came out on top again and Mark Coyne fishing peg 33 put the icing on the cake bagging the Festival's biggest weight a terrific carp haul of 78.9.0. Quality fish fed and 'red hot' Coyne tamed commons to 8.0.0 working short at 7 metres on the pellet.

On the Oaks at Sessay Harrogate Angling Supplies Rob Minikin stole the latest midweeker when he collected all carp to make for 49.12.0.
Rob on Maple Lake's peg eight went across on the pole presented at 14 metres and steadily netted mainly mirrors to 3.0.0 on the pellet.
In form John McGarrell kept up his Sessay success filling second placed with 46.12.0. The Map Elton angler on peg 47 also found pellet most effective catching small carp on a 13-metre line.
Then on Sunday strong winds made pole presentation difficult and subsequently Oaks Chris Hall required just 30.2.0 for victory.
In testing conditions Chris persevered. Going across to the island in search of sport off Maple's peg 45 he was rewarded with carp to 2.8.0 taken at intervals on the pellet.
Meanwhile Cleveland Angling Centre's Peter Weatherley swapped between a margin and island approach on the favoured pellet at present and weighed in 26.5.0 from peg 56.
The Shotton and District match on Eden Meadows saw Derek Fox get ahead of the competition returning 28.10.0 during a very competitive fixture on this Co Durham venue.
Pulling Cherry Tree Lake's peg seven out of the draw bag, Derek found both a middle and far bank attack got him amongst the fish.
Alternating pellet corn and cat meat on the pole brought 16 carp to reverse last week's result this time pushing Peter Nixon of Newman Scott's into runner up spot with 24.6.0.
Trout News
Jubilee Lakes noted for its big specimen rainbows boasted five doubles last week.
Evenwood's Paul Hull stole the limelight grassing a magnificent brace of 16.9.0 and 14.8.0 both falling to damsels and part of a 15 fish-winning haul during the Troutmasters competition. Paul has now caught 10 doubles this season from this popular Redworth water. Rod average 3.9. Best patterns are damsels, black buzzers, bloodworm, Dawsons, cat's whisker and zonkers.
At Masham's Leighton Reservoir quality rainbows continue to feature in visitors nets.
Whopper of the week a 13 pounder fell to Shildon's George Hall on a Dawson's olive. While John Robinson of Billingham had a wonderful day grassing specimens of 9.0.0 and 10.0.0 respectively to Dawson's olive. Black fritz, muddlers and small buzzers also doing well. 121 rods 539 trout.
Best rainbow of the season rose to a huge 16.9.0 at Fontburn when Cramlington's A Walton caught the heavyweight on maggot from the Dam Wall.
Worm and maggot accounting for many trout in a week when 630 visitors totalled 1377 fish.
Derwent: top rainbow of 8.8.0 fell to powerbait for Haddon Bridge's M Armstrong but fly fared better with cat's whisker, Dawson's olive and orange fritz best. Millshield Bay and above the sailing club hotspots. 462 anglers totalled 1205 trout.
Scaling Dam: early and late sessions giving best sport with maggot and worm leaving fly a poor second in the bait stakes. Gary Hicks of Marske grassed the biggest a rainbow of 6.4.0 on a Dawson's olive from the West End of the dam. 218 anglers 521 fish.
Wind and rain slowed returns at Blackton. 109 visitors returned 326 trout including rainbows and brownies to 5.0.0. 12 - 8 fish limit bags. Fish feeding deep on intermediate lines responding to Dawson's vivas and cat's whiskers.
