A MAN was stabbed in the face, neck and chest with a screwdriver after opening his front door to an attacker.
Ian Horner, 32, was attacked on his doorstep in Mowbray Drive, Acomb, York, on Sunday morning as local children played nearby.
A neighbour said Mr Horner staggered into the street, and his attacker sped off in a car.
She said: "He had stab wounds around his face, neck and chest.
"He came out in the street and he was bleeding everywhere.
"Ian was in shock, and what made it worse was all the kids were out playing. It frightened them.
"It's the sort of thing you expect to happen on a Saturday night when everyone is boozed up, but to happen on a Sunday morning, that just shocked everyone."
An ambulance was called and Mr Horner was taken to York Hospital suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was later discharged.
A police spokesman confirmed that an incident involving a screwdriver had taken place in Mowbray Drive.
