Longhorn Hardware Darlington and District League, Kingfisher Finance Trophy final, East End WMC 4, The Albion 3 (aet): A cracking match in which both teams gave their all with the result in doubt up to the final whistle.
Albion struck after only two minutes when keeper Scott Wood failed to hold a free kick and Kevin Baines rifled home the rebound. East End gradually got on top and it was no surprise when Aaron Radstock broke through and calmly lifted the ball over the keeper to level matters.
Mark Maddison put the club men ahead with a superb strike, but back came Albion to level through Baines.
Gary Mitchell then added to his impressive tally when he found himself in oceans of space and he side-footed past the advancing keeper to put Albion ahead for a second time.
The game was taken into extra time when an Albion player handled on the line and Mark Maddison dispatched the penalty.
Albion, despite being reduced to ten men, continued to enjoy an equal share of possession, but with a penaly shoot-out looking inevitable a rash challenge culminated in the award of a second penalty to East End in the final minute of extra time. Maddison duly completed his hat-trick to give his side victory.
Hole in the Wall 1, Albion 4
Albion bounced back from their cup final defeat to remain on course for the league title. Within five minutes Albion were two up but ten minutes later David Wilson headed home to put Wall back in the game.
Albion stormed back and after having a goal disallowed for offside added a third with a well struck shot from the edge of the area.
Albion made sure of the points on the hour when a low cross was converted via an upright.
Post Box 0, Killinghall Arms 4
The game was a top quality affair and despite the scoreline Post Boy had an equal share of the play, but Killie played some outstanding football with goals from man of the match Kevin Ashton, Danny Fleary, Neil Matthias and Andy Roberts.
Shuttle and Loom 1, N. Aycliffe 3
Aycliffe, fielding their strongest team of the season, were worthy winners in another excellent match. Chris Airey was on target for Shuttle.
T M Disco Crook and District League
West Auckland Queens Head have become the first Crook League side to win the Durham Minor Trophy. The final against Wheatley Hill WMC was held at Durham and the only goal came from John Dawson ten minutes from time. This was a fully deserved win for West Auckland and brought their second trophy of the season.
A third cup looks likely as Queens Head top the league on goal difference after a 5-1 win at Stanhope Town. Hamish Foster (2), Matthew Moffatt (2) and Andrew Bowes scored for West and the reply came from Graham Hodgson.
Rugby Club are level on points at the top after beating bottom side Wearhead United 10-1. John Paul Collinson grabbed a hat-trick and the rest came from Ashley Hinds (2), Simon Sowerby , Paul Barker, Lee Maddison, Michael Barker and Matthew Tyrie. Wearhead replied through Chris Oliver.
Crook Wanderers and Willington WMC met and Wanderers won the battle 5-3 with goals from Stephen Emery, Lee Nelson, Chris Pounder, Lee Furber and keeper Andrew Dolphin who banged in a free kick. Andrew Howard, Dale Parkinson and Stephen Lee scored for Willington.
