Junior round-up: Northern Conference Under-11 squad won the Under-11 Junior Inter-Conference championship at Hull Ice Arena over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
They did so without losing a game over the three days. To win the final they had to come from behind to defeat Midlands 3-1.
Midlands went ahead after four minutes and Jack Watkins was denied by the post before North were level. Watkins put North ahead at 26.58 on the powerplay and with three minutes to go North got a third to make sure of victory.
North's opening match of the tournament was against Midlands and as in the final came from behind to win. Midlands went ahead in the second minute and it was looking like Midlands victory until two very late goals saw North to a 2-1 win. There was two minutes to go when Watkins equalised and the winner came with 38 seconds to go.
South-east were North's next opponents and had the game won after 15 minutes as Kingston's Jack Musil and Watkins put North 2-0 ahead. South East did pull a goal back only for Musil's second for a 3-1 win. North outshot South East 27-6.
Scotland fell behind to a goal after 17 seconds from Sunderland's Callum Davies and Watkins doubled the lead two minutes later. It became 3-0 at 05.13 before the deficit was cut a minute later. The victory confirmed North's place in the final before completing the round robin fixtures.
South West were North's next opponents and went ahead at 02.37. Callum Davies equalised after 14 minutes and his second put North ahead at 24.11. Davies completed a hat-trick with five minutes remaining to secure a 3-1 victory and a 100 per cent record kept in tact.

North Under-14s almost made their final. They needed to defeat South West by three goals in their last round robin to claim the slot. However, North West went down 3-1. A close opening period ended with South West scoring with four seconds left. Further goals in the 29th and 33rd minutes put them 3-0 ahead. A minute later North struck a consolation reply.
The defeat saw them finish in third place behind finalists Midlands and South West.
The Under-13s began with a 0-5 loss at the hands of Midlands South East. Sunderland's Callum Pattison and Whitley Bay's Jamie Tinsley put North 2-0 ahead after nine minutes.
The score was doubled to 4-0 before South East's lone reply. Tinsley's second goal of the game at 36.52 gave North a 5-1 win.
Two goals in the first 14 minutes against Scotland put North 2-0 ahead. Scotland pulled a goal back immediately and no further goals edged North a 2-1 win.
Tinsley was included in the All Star Under-13 team. Further recognition for Tinsley came as he was named in the Under-14 School of Excellence this summer. Whitley team mate Andrew Wood plus Sunderland's Danny Lamb, Jimmy Moutrey and Callum Patterson were also in the squad.
North Under-15s finished fourth in their section and won only one and losing the remaining three. The opening match was against Midlands who led 2-0 at 16.54. Two goals in as many minutes from Sunderland's Dean Holland and Billingham's Robert Dowd tied the scores 2-2 at 27.49.
Three goals in seven minutes gave Midlands a 5-2 lead to put the result beyond North's reach. A late North strike had no impact in a 5-3 loss.
South-east defeated North 2-0 in their following game. Scotland went ahead on the powerplay at 04.09 before Dowd equalised at 12.33. With two minutes to go North got another to record a 2-1 win.
A hard fought clash with South West saw North lost 1-0 to a powerplay goal with three minutes remaining.
North finished fourth of five.
Robert Dowd and Michael Farn of Billingham plus Sunderland's Richard Westgarth were named in the 16 School of Excellence for the summer.

Whitley Bay Squaws completed their women's division one North fixtures with a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Vipers at Hillheads. Kate Watson and Sarah Christie scored Squaws' goals.
This weekend Billingham Bears are at Nottingham for the English Junior championship finals.
Bears face Swindon Leopards in the Under-16 semi-final tomorrow, Sheffield meet Peterborough in the other.
The losers will contest third/fourth play-off and the winners to the final the following day.
Billingham Bears (U16) and Pumas (U12) have accepted invitations to Peterborough tournaments on weekends of May 31-June 1 (U16) and July 12-13 (U12) respectively.
