A DARLINGTON store has been named the best shop in the region in its company awards.
The Spar shop in Duke Street took the Best Store in the Northern Region title in the Spar Star awards. The store will now be entered into the national final on June 9.
Peter Nellist, who has owned the shop for five years, said he was thrilled with the award. He is a second generation Spar retailer - his father runs the Spar shop in Stokesley, North Yorkshire.
The Spar Star awards recognise hard work and enthusiasm incorporating customer service.
