ADULT Learners' Week is taking place this week to promote the value of lifelong learning.
Free events are being held at various venues in Darlington to encourage more people to return to learning.
The week began with a model aeroplane display at the central library in Crown Street and budding pilots were invited on board a flight simulator. The library will also be marking the International Day of Families tomorrow, from 9.30am to 3pm.
All members of the family will be able to get involved in activities including making jewellery, body art and model-making.
Today there will be events at the Dolphin Centre sponsored by Darlington College of Technology. Courses on offer include wine tasting, Spanish and digital photography, from 10.30am to 3pm.
The event will end with Silver Surfers' Day on Friday, with free information technology and Internet facilities available at Darlington central library, Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College and Darlington College of Technology.
