ACCOUNTANT Dave Kilburn came out of retirement to start a new career as a restaurateur.
Mr Kilburn decided to buy the Prickly Pear, in Esplanade Mews, Sunderland, which he operates as a cafe/bistro by day and a restaurant by night.
The Prickly Pear was bought as a going concern, with 12 staff, and now serves "modern, contemporary, Pan European" dishes.
Mr Kilburn said: "I thoroughly enjoyed my retirement, but decided that I would like to do something completely different."
Gordon Brown, senior partner at the Chester-le-Street law firm which bears his name, conducted the legal work for the deal.
