The problems of getting the public involved in deciding changes to the National Health Service were discussed at a recent meeting of Darlington Primary Care Trust.
Section 11 of the Health and Social Care Act makes it the responsibility of health bodies to involve the public in decisions affecting services.
The trust's board accepted the act's guidelines on improving accountability and endorsed an action plan to encourage public involvement.
