A TOP teacher who has led her school to success in five award schemes has been shortlisted for a national honour.
Jo Frost, headteacher at Ox Close Primary School in Spennymoor, is nominated in the leadership and management category of the BT Teacher of the Year awards.
Since taking up the post four years ago, Mrs Frost has seen the school earn Investors In People, Sport England Activemark, Arts Mark and Basic Skills Agency Quality Mark awards.
It was also praised by Durham County Council for its achievements.
Chairman of governors David Halliday nominated Mrs Frost for the award and judges have visited the school to meet governors, staff, parents and pupils before announcing the winner on June 12.
Mrs Frost said: "It's a great honour to be nominated for this award and I'm thrilled the people I work with believe in me.
"This nomination is very positive for the school. It increases confidence and belief that what we are doing here is right."
