TRADING Standards officers are continuing their investigation into a company which sold a fireplace that toppled on to a young girl.
The investigation was launched after the three-year-old was crushed by the mantlepiece which had been supplied and fitted by the Reproduction Centre, in Yarm Road, Darlington.
The mantlepiece had been attached to the wall with a gypsum-based adhesive rather than brackets.
Trading standards are still working with Darlington police to investigate whether any safety legislation has been breached.
The girl, who was in intensive care, has since returned to her Darlington home.
