AN army of volunteers will take part in the latest clean-up project organised by the Richmond Pride initiative.
Up to 100 young soldiers from the Infantry Training Centre (ITC) at Catterick Garrison will be marching into the Temple Grounds this morning and will spend the day clearing overgrown paths, removing fallen branches and picking up litter.
It won't be the only time ITC units lend a hand - senior officers have committed troops to monthly visits to help with other community projects.
"The ITC is trying to generate a sense of community and belonging and wanted to find a project they could do for the town; their help is greatly appreciated," said the Mayor, Councillor Stuart Parsons.
Future tasks could involve clearing the old railway line on the banks of the River Swale and working with local schools on projects of their own.
