Teenagers at a Darlington school have proved they can find their way around by picking up a national navigation award.
The eight Year 11 pupils from Branksome Comprehensive School have been learning navigational skills as part of the Duke of Edinburgh silver award scheme.
Their teacher, Kay Crossling, realised the work they were doing was similar to that needed for the National Navigation Awards, so she entered the pupils for that as well.
They travelled to Grinton, near Reeth in Swaledale, for an intensive outdoor training weekend.
Mrs Crossling said: "They did compass navigation and learnt how to navigate in bad weather conditions. It rained all the time which was good because it meant they had to rely on the compass.
"They worked very, very hard and have done really well to get an award like this."
The pupils were presented with their certificates on Friday.
