TWO men arrested on gun charges after a car parked at a North-East college was riddled with bullets have been released.
Armed police raided a flat in Rye Hill, Newcastle, on Wednesday, after the shooting a few hundred yards away at Newcastle College car park, in Maple Terrace. The car, a Nissan Sunny, was driven away after the incident.
The gunmen, one carrying a shotgun, left in a red Volkswagen Golf after the attack at about 7.30pm on Tuesday.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said yesterday that the two men, aged 38 and 16, who had been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear or harm, had been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.
