Leadgate WI: MRS Walker presided over the April meeting of the group and extended a warm welcome to all those present.
Members who had been suffering through ill-health were remembered.
The theme was read by Mrs Buchan. In the absence of secretary Mrs Hedley, through illness, Mrs Buchan read the minutes and correspondence.
Mrs Moody gave the financial statement and Mrs Walker gave an account of the county meeting.
The speaker, Mrs Harrison, gave an interesting talk on the History of Thornton's Chocolates, and she had a good example of their range in sweets, which members sampled.
The competition, a decorated egg, was judged by the speaker and was won by Mrs Dalton, second was Mrs Wheatley and third was Mrs Hilary.
Mrs Young gave the vote of thanks. Then the raffle was drawn and the winner was Mrs Hornsby.
Tantobie WI
MRS Smith welcomed members to the April meeting.
Mrs Oliver read an amusing poem and Mrs Smith read a poem from the Doris Wallace collection.
All members said they had enjoyed the Little Theatre.
Col Johnson gave an interesting talk on a village revisited which all members enjoyed and Mrs Henderson gave the vote of thanks.
The raffle, for the pouffe, was won by Mrs Cawthorn.
A decorated egg, was won by Mrs Stacey, second was Miss Goodfellow and third was Mrs Green.
Members had attended the group meeting at Greencroft, organised by Catchgate WI and other members had enjoyed an evening watching the Washington Operatic Society's performance of Oklahoma.
The next meeting, this Saturday , is at 6.30pm, in the Communal room. The talk is on Textiles through the Ages. New members are invited to attend.
