A MAN appeared in court yesterday charged with stabbing a teenager.
Christopher Robinson, 48, of Burnhope Road, Barmston, Washington, Wearside, was charged with unlawful wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. It follows the stabbing of a 17-year-old boy in Burnhope Road on Tuesday. Mr Robinson was committed to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on June 5 and was remanded on conditional bail.
GOODS PLEA: Police believe thousands of pounds of jewellery, car stereos and household goods recovered in a raid could belong to victims of crime across the North-East. Officers from Northumbria Police recovered more than £17,000 worth of goods that they believe were stolen, in a raid on a home in Scotswood. SHOW SAVED: Fulford Show, near York, which had been threatened with cancellation after more than 100 years, has been saved after more volunteers stepped forward to help with the organisation. The event will be held on the August bank Holiday.

DRIVING BAN: Motorist Raymond Douglas Masson, 54, of Owton Manor Lane, Hartlepool, was banned from driving for six months yesterday after he admitted speeding in Crook, County Durham, on December 8. Darlington magistrates also fined him £60 and ordered him to pay £35 costs.
TYRE DAMAGE: A man admitted damaging two car tyres belonging to a neighbour when he appeared before Darlington Magistrates' Court yesterday. John Stewart, 31, now living in Solihull, Birmingham, pleaded guilty to criminal damage after an incident on August 4 last year in Hercules Street, Darlington. He was fined £100 and ordered to pay £68 compensation and £75 costs.
TAX HELP: The Inland Revenue team from Sunderland is travelling to Gateshead to offer free help and advice with new tax credits, income tax, and National Insurance queries. The team will be in Felling JobCentre on Thursday, May 29, 10am-1pm.
