THIEVES are heading to a Cleveland town to steal quality cars from driveways.
Police said nine quality cars, including BMWs, have been taken from Guisborough housing estates since February. They believe that criminals are stealing the keys from homes before driving off with the vehicles.
RESEARCH SUCCESS: A PhD research project carried out by Dr Jan Broomfield, consultant speech and language therapist for Middlesbrough Primary Care Trust, has gone around the world. Her findings, based on assessments of 1,100 referrals to her department, are being disseminated in the US and Australia. At the moment she is presenting her findings in Tasmania.
YOBS BLAMED: Vandals are being blamed for starting a fire in an outhouse in Bruce Crescent, Hartlepool, destroying the contents of the building, on Wednesday night.
PARK GROUP: A meeting to discuss setting up a Friends of Zetland Park group, which will be involved in the park's management, will be held at Zetland Park Methodist Church Hall, Redcar, on Wednesday, May 28, at 6pm. JUMBLE SALE: A jumble sale will be held on Thursday, from 1pm to 3pm, at St Nicholas's Church Parish Hall, Bow Street, Guisborough. Admission is 10p. Money raised will go to the St Nicholas Nursery School, which caters for children aged two-and-a-half to school age.
PAPER MAKERS: Countryside wardens at the Guisborough Forest and Walkway, at Pinchinthorpe, host a half-term event demonstrating how to make paper with a natural twist on Wednesday, May 28.
