A MULTI-AWARD winning folk band is on its way to Wensleydale for a live performance next month.
Irish band Danu are bringing their brand of traditional music to Wensleydale School, Leyburn, on Thursday, June 12, at 8pm.
Voted Best Live Band at BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2001, seven-piece Danu have played at festivals in Cambridge, in Edmonton, Canada, and at the Milwaukee Irish Festival, in the US.
Irish Music Magazine nominated them Best Overall Traditional Act in 1999 and Best Live Act in 2000.
The band calls at Wensleydale School for a concert jointly promoted by AiR, the new Richmondshire arts development agency and Get Moving, an independent agency behind the annual Festival of Many Cultures.
Tickets for the show are priced at £4.50 in advance or £5.50 on the door, with concessions available for senior citizens, under-16s, the disabled and unemployed. They can be bought at Specials, in Leyburn, or by calling (01969) 625142 or (01969) 622764.
