POLICE are warning motorists to be vigilant following a spate of car crime in Darlington.
On Wednesday, two cars were stolen and five vehicles were broken into in the North Road area of the town.
In the past month, three cars have been stolen from Colorado Grove, Progress Way and Beaumont Hill and vehicles have been broken into at lunchtimes in North Road, and Morrisons car park.
In the latest incidents, a Nissan Micra, registration K717 6NL, was stolen from the North Road area, between 11.30am and 6.30pm on Wednesday. On the same day, a Ford Focus, registration T194 KND, was taken from Prescott Street, between 12.30am and 8.30am.
Inspector Dennis Dixon said: "A lot of these incidents have taken place when drivers have left property on display. We would advise that people take anything of value out of the vehicle and that there is nothing tempting thieves."
Anybody with information about the incidents is asked to contact police on (01325) 467681, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
