A MAN appeared in court yesterday accused of taking part in an armed raid on a village sub-post office.
Paul Solomon, 22, is alleged to have been one of a duo who robbed a convenience store in Ludworth, near Durham, on Monday afternoon.
Mr Solomon, of Blackfell, Washington, was one of two men arrested on Wednesday by detectives investigating the raid. He appeared before North Durham magistrates in Peterlee, yesterday, accused of robbery.
The hearing was adjourned and he was remanded in custody for a week.
A second man, believed to be in his 30s and also from Washington, was released on police bail pending further investigation after being questioned by detectives.
