THE big guns are to roll into a medieval manor house later this month as part of an Army presentation weekend.
Visitors to Seaton Holme, in Easington Village, County Durham, will be given a glimpse of the modern Army during a series of displays and demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday, May 31 and June 1.
The weekend will also give the senior service the chance to impress potential recruits from the wider east Durham area.
Among attractions lined up are an Army obstacle course, paintballing, various weapons an armoured vehicles - and possibly a tank.
Invitations have been sent to schools and other organisations in the area alerting them to what is on offer.
Seaton Holme events co-ordinator Irene Haddick said the Army weekend has grown rapidly since the initial plans were pencilled in earlier in the year.
"There's going to quite a lot for the kids to do and plenty to see. We're expecting a busy weekend, particularly if the weather is good.
Seaton Holme, in Hall Walks, will be open from 10am to 4pm on both days, with the centre's cream teas available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Admission is free, with further information available on 0191-527 3333.
