HUNDREDS of music fans enjoyed the best classical music in the region this weekend at the annual proms event.
Young performers kicked off the musical extravaganza at A Promenade for Youth at the Dolphin Centre in Darlington on Friday night.
More than 100 young musicians were involved in the concert, including the Durham County Wind Ensemble, the Durham County Big Band and the Durham County Youth Choir.
On Saturday night the King's Division Waterloo Band took part in the Last Night of the Proms.
A massed choir of voices from across the region also performed alongside Mezzo soprano Ann Tallis and the winner of the 2002 Young Soprano Competition Sanaz Lavasani.
The audience were invited to join in the finale of the concert - a traditional last night of the proms sing-a-long including Rule Britannia and Pomp and Circumstance.
All the proceeds from the two concerts will be divided between St Teresa's Hospice in Darlington, Darlington Mind and The Corps of Army Music Trust.
