DRINKERS at a pub in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales have every reason to be full of good cheer.
For their favourite hostelry has been named as Pub of the Season by the Richmond and North West Yorkshire branch of Camra, the Campaign for Real Ale.
The 300-year-old Cover Bridge Inn lies between Masham and Middleham, close to where Coverdale and Wensleydale converge.
Despite being some distance from the nearest village - East Witton - landlord Nick Harrington and his wife Anne enjoy a healthy local trade as well as welcoming many walkers and country lovers.
The pub has now become the area's nomination for the Yorkshire Pub of the Year, up against a dozen others from as far afield as Sheffield and Humberside.
Camra branch chairman John Quinn said: "The Cover Bridge Inn is a deserved winner of our annual award and I'm sure it will compare well with the other Yorkshire finalists. Nick is a great enthusiast for good beer and his choice of ales is unrivalled in the area."
