A MILITARY museum is offering a picnic in the park for parents wondering how to entertain their families over the next public holiday.
The DLI Association has teamed up with Durham County Council to bring a carnival atmosphere to the grounds of the DLI Museum and Durham Art Gallery next Monday.
Entry to the museum, in Aykley Heads, Durham, is free and families are invited to bring a picnic to eat in the park.
Attractions include a car boot sale in the museum car park, starting at 10am, children's rides, a bouncy castle, face-painting, puppets and stalls.
Easington Colliery Brass Band will perform from 2pm.
Kevin Storey, of the DLI Association, said: "We had a very successful picnic last year, despite the rain, and we expect the museum's superb grounds at Aykley Heads to be crowded again.
"It is always an enjoyable day out, with lots for youngsters and families to see and do, plus the added bonus of free entry to the museum."
It runs from 10am to 4pm. Admission is £1, and free for the under-12s.
