EXTRA services on the Shields Ferry will be provided on Sunday and Monday for people heading to the North Shields Fish Quay Festival.
Metro operator Nexus, which runs the ferry, is operating additional sailings of the cross-Tyne service between 10am and 6pm, with the normal ferry services running from 9.15am to 10.50pm.
Nexus commercial director Andy Bairstow said: "The Fish Quay Festival is one of the most popular events of the year and so we anticipate large numbers of people will head to the event and they will need to get across the river.
"With Metro stations at North and South Shields linking up with the Shields Ferry, we will be able to move a large number of people quickly and safely."
