A MOTORIST pleaded guilty yesterday to causing the death of a woman passenger in a car crash.
George Harvey, 58, was driving a Ford Fiesta on the A688 at Westerton, near Spennymoor, County Durham, when it collided with a Ford Escort.
One of his passengers, Jean Glass, a 54-year-old widow, of Woodhouse Close Estate, Bishop Auckland, was killed.
Mrs Glass had a partner of 17 years and a son, 22.
Another passenger, a 54-year-old woman from Newton Aycliffe, was detained in hospital, and the Escort driver, a 47-year-old woman from Bishop Auckland, was treated for minor injuries and released.
Yesterday, at Teesside Crown Court, Mr Harvey of Limetree Close, Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to causing Mrs Glass' death by dangerous driving on September 11 last year. He was released on bail for six weeks for reports before sentencing.
