THE whale jawbones which stood on Whitby's West Cliff, in the shadow of the statue of Captain James Cook, are to get a home at the Whitby Archives Centre.
The landmark bone archway was replaced by a set of bones from Anchorage, in Alaska, one of Whitby's twin towns.
Offers were made from householders in other parts of the country who wanted to install the bones as a feature in their gardens, but Scarborough Council has agreed they should remain in Whitby.
