Police last night confirmed they would not be pressing charges against a Darlington pub landlord accused of indecent assault. Glittering Star landlord David Pointon was due to answer police bail on Monday after being arrested on suspicion of indecent assault in April, but was informed that the Crown Prosecution Service would not be pursuing charges.
TOOL THEFT: Police in Darlington are appealing for help after a large quantity of power tools were stolen from a van in Whessoe Road between Friday and Monday. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on (01325) 467681.
NEW OFFICE: Darlington Residents' Panel will open its new office in the Community Volunteers Service building, in Church Row, on Monday, June 2. People can already visit the office for advice on housing and other matters from 10am until noon and 2pm to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

DISABLED CHARITY: Volunteers are needed for a fund-raising expedition on the South African savannah in aid of Children Today, which provides specialist equipment for disabled children.The challenge will take place between October 10 and 19 and will include trekking, cycling and kayaking. COFFEE DATE: A coffee morning in aid of the Ladies' Working Group is being held at St Thomas' Church, Stanhope, on Saturday, from 10am to 11.30am.
CIDER SONGS: An evening featuring songs of the countryside with supper and cider is being held at Westgate Village Hall on Saturday, at 7pm. Admission is £3 at the door, with funds going to St Andrew's Church.
