RENEWED efforts are being made to make the roads of North Yorkshire safer for motorcyclists.
A campaign has been launched to drive home the message to bikers to cut down on their speed.
The Hambleton Community Safety Partnership has joined forces with the Great North Air Ambulance and the police for the summer initiative and, among other things, posters will be distributed throughout the county.
North Yorkshire is a popular destination for bikers riding powerful machines, but there is widespread concern at the number of accident casualties.
"We don't want to stop anybody coming to the county," said Chris Fields, safety manager with the Hambleton Community Safety Partnership.
"But we do want them to behave responsibly, to cut down on their speed and to keep safety uppermost in their minds."
