Spennymoor: Former Middlesbrough midfielder Jamie Pollock last night surprisingly quit as manager of UniBond League Spennymoor.
Pollock took over from Tony Lee in January and, with the help of assistant Jason Ainsley, guided the club through a hectic last three months of the season to automatic promotion in April.
However, together with Ainsley, he has decided to leave with immediate effect.
"Jason and I sat down and talked about it and we felt that it was time to move on," he said.
"The club was in turmoil when I arrived in January, and it hasn't really settled down since. The players were being let down, and that had gone on for too long and too much. We feel that we can't continue in such a turbulent environment."
Nobody from the club was available for comment last night.
