THE trial of a soldier accused of criminal damage has been delayed until the end of the year because he is serving abroad.
Neal Holdsworth, a soldier based at Catterick Garrison, in North Yorkshire, denies destroying a glass panel worth nearly £300 at Chestnut Clothing, in Darlington, on June 30, last year.
South Durham Magistrates' Court, in Darlington, heard yesterday that the 22-year-old had been posted abroad and would not return until later this year.
His trial, due to take place on August 13, has been listed to appear before magistrates in Bishop Auckland on December 12
