TWO elderly women have become the latest victims of bogus callers pretending to be from water companies.
A quantity of cash was stolen from one of the pensioners, who live at opposite ends of Tow Law, near Bishop Auckland, County Durham.
Last night, police appealed for witnesses who may have seen the two men in the area between 2pm and 3pm yesterday.
Detective Constable Marco Fontin said: "We believe that they have been on foot at some time. We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen them wandering around or can link them to a vehicle."
The men were believed to be white, aged between 20 and 30, and were both wearing green jackets.
One was said to be between 5ft 8ins and 6ft, with dark hair and of big build. The other was of smaller build and had fair hair.
Witnesses are asked to contact Det Con Fontin at Crook Police on (01388) 762011.
