A ROAD rage attack in a busy town centre left a driver with head injuries.
A 42-year-old man in a silver Volvo 940 car was waiting at traffic lights next to the Company Row Wetherspoon's pub in Consett, when a dark-coloured Rover 214 pulled alongside.
The passenger in the Rover began shouting abuse at the man behind the wheel of the Volvo.
The Rover driver then got out of his car and began kicking the rear of the Volvo.
The Volvo driver, who is from Consett, opened his door to see what was happening and was punched about the head by the other man, who then jumped back in his car and drove off.
The injured man was taken to hospital, where he received several stitches to his head wound.
The incident happened at about 3.15pm on Wednesday, May 14. Police said both the town centre and Front Street area were busy with traffic at the time and are appealing for witnesses.
The Rover driver is described as in his late thirties and of average build.
Anyone with information should contact PC Ian Morrison at Consett police station, on (01207) 504204.
