The case against two men accused of stealing £32,285 from Darlington Building Society in the town's Yarm Road has been adjourned.
Stephen McGovern, 25, and Brian James McNally, 45, both from Liverpool, are accused of the theft last month. They were given permission not to appear at Darlington magistrates court yesterday, and the case was adjourned until June 16.
Police are looking for two other men in connection with the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call Darlington police, on (01325) 467681, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
POOL OPENS: Weardale Open Air Swimming Pool, in Stanhope, opens for the summer season tomorrow.
The pool will be open from 4pm to 7pm, with additional opening times from 2pm to 4pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, until July 18. After July 19 it will open from noon to 2pm and 3.30pm to 7pm on weekdays with swimming for adults from 11am to noon at weekends. These times have not been reduced, as reported in The Northern Echo recently. The error arose because of incorrect information passed to the paper and we apologise for any confusion caused.
WEBSITE HELP: People interested in setting up a community website are invited to attend a free workshop hosted by The Northern Echo's Communigate programme in Darlington Library in Crown Street from 10am to noon today. LICENCE BID: Darlington Borough Council has received an application for an occasional public musical licence for a community carnival in Stanhope Park on Saturday, June 28.
DANCE EVENT: The Midi Dance Orchestra (Little Big Band) is holding a 50/50 ballroom and sequence dance at the Holy Family Social Centre in Cockerton, Darlington, on Sunday, June 1, from 8pm. For details call (01325) 251518.
CAR WASH: A charity car wash will take place at Red Hall Community Centre, in Headingley Crescent, Darlington, tomorrow from 10am to 4pm. Motorists can have their vehicle washed for £2 or vacuumed for £1. All money raised will go towards a children's play scheme on the estate in summer.
NEW RESTAURANT: Yum Restaurants of Surrey has applied to Darlington Borough Council for permission to build a restaurant at Darlington retail park.
