A ONE-STOP shop with advice and information on childcare will celebrate its opening next week.
Middlesbrough Council's new chairman, Councillor Peter Porley, will join staff, parents and shoppers to celebrate the work of Childcare Plus, in Captain Cook Square.
Staff will dress up as children's TV characters and there will be face-painting and puppet shows for youngsters.
For parents, there will be advice and information on subjects including play schemes and toy libraries, jobs in childcare and advice for lone parents.
There will even be a chance to have safety checks on pushchairs.
Coun Porley said: "I am delighted to support Childcare Plus.
"It is an excellent facility for the town, a place where parents can pop in to get good advice and information on all aspects of childcare.
"This promises to be an excellent day for youngsters and parents."
The open day at the centre, next to the bus station, is on Tuesday from 10.30am to 3.30pm.
It will be officially opened by Coun Porley at noon.
