AMATEUR actors are in a spin for the want of a prop.
Members of Eaglescliffe's Centre Stage Theatre Group need a bath chair for their production of Noel Gay's musical Me and My Girl.
The group has trawled museums to find one to borrow, but to no avail.
"They are like hen's teeth,'' complained John Tait, husband of producer, Maureen.
The bath chair is needed for Sir Jasper Tring, one of the characters of the 1930s-set musical.
The group hopes someone on Teesside will be able to do them a good turn so that Sir Jasper can be given a turn around the stage.
"We are hoping someone, somewhere, may have one in the back of a garage,'' said Mr Tait. "Otherwise, we may have to cobble something together. At the end of the day we could end up with an old wheelchair or the chassis of one of these three wheel buggies you see mums pushing around.''
"We would collect and return and be careful with it,'' he added. "We could use the chair as soon as possible to assist rehearsal manoeuvres.
"We could also make good use of some gentlemen's tail coats and small, size eight, black, long-sleeved straight dresses for maids and white waitress bibbed aprons.''
The show, which features evergreens such as Leaning on the Lamppost and The Lambeth Walk runs at Egglescliffe Community Centre on Durham Lane, Eaglescliffe, from June 16 to June 21.
