A CHARITY golf tournament has raised thousands of pounds to buy a bicycle for a paramedic.
The event, at York Golf Club, was organised by the Rotary Club of York Vikings and coincided with its 25th anniversary celebrations.
The golf day raised £7,500 which has paid for the bike and also provided a boost for local charities, organisations and various international projects in India, Romania and Ghana.
Rotary community chairman Trevor Woodward said: "The Rotary Club of York Vikings is delighted to support Life-Cycle and in turn support the local community.
"The project is a brilliant idea in a city like York because a bike can get around the streets so much faster."
The bike, supplied by Cycle Heaven, of York, was presented to Mark Inman at Minster Jaguar, on Clifton Moor, which sponsored the golf tournament.
