A VILLAGE will soon have its own road signs - thanks to the artistic talents of some of the local children.
Pupils from Middleton Tyas Primary School were challenged to come up with pictures or slogans which would encourage drivers to kill their speed.
Their designs have been chosen by North Yorkshire County Council and added to plaques to be mounted beneath 20mph signs which are due to go up outside the school gates.
The children whose work will be included are nine-year-old Natalie Hunt, James Probert, four, Christopher McMullon, ten, five-year-old Joshua Metcalfe, 11-year-old Timothy Bray and Imogen Clarke, also 11.
All of the pupils received gift vouchers as well as miniatures of their work, presented by county councillor Michael Heseltine and the authority's road safety officer, Alison Butterfield.
