Kind-hearted pupils at Laurence Jackson School, Guisborough, have raised £1,078 by taking part in a blindfold bowl for the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) - the highest amount raised in the country. The RNIB has presented the school with a certificate for their efforts.
HALL CONCERT: Teesside-based Silverwood Band will be playing pop classics at the National Trust's Ormesby Hall, near Middlesbrough, tomorrow, including Elton John's Candle in the Wind and a medley of Tom Jones' hits. The concert is from 2pm to 4pm.
CHARTER LAUNCH: More than 120 tenants of the Tees Valley Housing Group attended the launch of a tenants' charter at Middlesbrough Football Club's Riverside Stadium. The occasion also saw the launch of the group's model for working with and consulting tenants.
GREEN EXAMPLE: Holy Trinity Junior School and neighbouring Rosehill Infant School, Stockton, have become the first in the community to sign up to a Leg-it! walk to school campaign. The schools have been working with Stockton Borough Council on green travel for the past five months. The children will walk to school in fancy dress, carrying banners and singing on Thursday, June 12.
HEALTHY EATING: People can find out about healthy eating and how to get more exercise at the annual meeting of the Lifestyle Health Link. The event takes place on Wednesday, June 18, at 12.30pm, in the Co-op Building, High Street, Loftus.
FREE BINGO: A free bingo afternoon is to be held with cash prizes, a raffle and refreshments available to raise cash for St John Ambulance. The event will be held at The Cheshire Home , in Redcar Road, Marske on Thursday, June 5. Doors open at 1.15pm, and eyes down at 2pm.
