SUPPORTERS of Amnesty International have posted their concerns about human rights in Iraq to Downing Street.
Campaigners asked shoppers in Darlington town centre to sign postcards showing their support for Amnesty International's stance on Iraq last weekend.
The group is asking Prime Minister Tony Blair and the Government to ensure that there is adequate human rights provision in Iraq while the country is being rebuilt, and that a new system of leadership is introduced.
Members are also calling for human rights observers and a proper system of justice in the country.
About 150 postcards were signed in Darlington before being posted to Downing Street. The action was part of a North-East human rights week which runs until until tomorrow.
