A SCHOOLGIRL from Darlington has won an international essay writing prize.
Alice Kent, a year eight pupil at Carmel RC Technology College, caught the judges' attention with a story called Mosaic Mayhem, set during the 2nd Century Roman occupation of Britain.
Alice was presented with an engraved glass paperweight and £40, plus £75 worth of books for her school.
